We are often asked about counselling and to provide the name of a counsellor in Wellington or the Hutt Valley. Historically we did not recommend any one particular counsellor as for every comment that was positive about someone, we seemed to receive a comment that was not so positive. This situation led us to develop our workshop for counsellors in early 2012 which was a very successful project.

As a result of the workshop, we are now working on developing better relationships with Wellington and Hutt Valley counsellors, in order that bereaved parents, families and whanau are better supported in our communities.

If you have come to this page looking for a recommendation for a counsellor, you'll see a PDF below which contains a list of counsellors who have attended our training and those who note grief as a specialty.

If you are considering seeing a counsellor, please download the document below (on the right) as this may help you as you consider what you want to get out of the counselling experience.  The three page document was written by Hilary Smith, a Wellington counsellor, and Sands Wellington-Hutt Valley. We hope you find it helpful.
