Sands Wellington-Hutt Valley have been so fortunate in being selected as one of the charities who will feature on the Queensgate Giving Machine this year.
The picture above was taken on Thursday morning, 20th November when the Giving Machine Queensgate was launched. Catherine Maetzig, third in on the left, represented all of us from the Sands WHV whānau.
The Giving Machine is an easy way for the public to donate to charities in the lead up to Christmas.

The Giving Machine is an easy way for the public to donate to charities in the lead up to Christmas.
- Visitors can walk up to a Giving Machine and choose something to give to someone in need. Each item or service is represented by a card, which drops from the machine with every purchase. The donor then has the option to scan a QR code to receive a tax-deductible receipt.
- Each machine keeps a running tally of the items donated to each charity. In early 2026, the donated funds from the previous year are delivered to each charity along with the accounting of items chosen by donors. These donations will be used and fulfilled over the next year by each charity.
